Every state has felt the widespread disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic, but two of our favourite theme parks have evolved with the current climate by making necessary changes to keep you safe while still being able to enjoy the human experience! When historians document the pandemic of 2020, it will be a story of our ability to come together as a collective to adhere to the global health response.
Through this adaptiveness and ingenuity, we can restart aspects of our normal life which might include your yearly visits to Australia’s biggest theme park. Dreamworld and WhiteWater World have introduced a variety of comprehensive changes to ensure guest safety and we’ve documented all the relevant info for you below, so you can see what has been implemented and how you can get back to making happy memories with your loved ones.
Which attractions remain closed?
There are a large variety of family rides and attractions still open following the revised COVID SAFE plan, so much so that it is easier to list the temporarily unavailable attractions and activities upon opening:
- Gamesite Arcade
- Mad Jungle Jam
- Play School Art Room iPads
- Corroboree Face Painting Experience
- Corroboree Virtual Reality Experience
- Animal Experiences
- LEGO Interactive Building Area
- LEGO Mini Figure Station
This is subject to change and doesn’t include the attractions under scheduled maintenance.
The Big Red Car and Flowrider will be permanently retired, though our memories on these attractions will live on. This comprehensive COVID SAFE Plan has been approved by Queensland Health and the staff at Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are excited to welcome you back to the Parks!
Re-open your theme park experience!
It’s important to look after your health first and foremost and if this year has taught us anything, it’s that by being considerate of others, we minimise risk of transmission and ultimately care for ourselves by doing so.
The theme parks have made the following adjustments to protect their guests and have requested that we all come together by adhering to their requirements:
- Monitor your health and please do not visit if you are unwell;
- Contactless payment preferred for entry tickets, food, beverage and retail purchases;
- Always maintain 1.5m from others, the parks have assisted with this process by installing floor indicators to establish appropriate spacing;
- Enforced park and indoor area capacity, monitored by team members;
- Collection of name, address and mobile number for each guest – which we will be great at recalling as we have been recording these details all year;
- Hand washing facilities and hand sanitiser will be available for all guests;
- High touch surfaces will be consistently disinfected;
- Attractions and Entertainment have been reconfigured to allow for social distancing on rides, queue rails and outdoor theatre seating;
WhiteWater World will operate seasonally from early September until late January.
