What a wonderful time of the year! Christmas has returned to Brisbane for another season of enchanting entertainment, twinkling surrounds, carols, toys, food and family fun!
Visit the Enchanted Garden full of sparkling lights, sing along to your favourite Christmas tunes at the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols or shop ’til you drop at South Bank’s Christmas markets. Find out what Brisbane has on offer this festive season!
What’s On in December?
Brisbane Twilight Market
Saturday the 1st December 2018

The Christmas Brisbane Twilight Markets, an initiative of Brisbane City Council, is a meet-the-maker event and is the only Brisbane-based marketplace selling 100% locally handmade products. You will not find any imported, offshore, on-sold or mass-produced items at this event, giving you the opportunity to shop gifts from a huge variety of truly unique, quality handmade items, directly from the maker.
In addition to a huge variety of handmade market stalls, you will also find a great variety of local food vendors, live music and a free Craft Workshop, making this a great event for the whole family.
Located in the heart of the bustling city and within easy walking distance from the Queen Street Mall and Central Train Station, the Brisbane Twilight Markets is also located directly above the King George Square Busway and parking is also available under the square from just $5 for the night.
The Enchanted Garden

With winding pathways, towering trees and dense plant-life, The Enchanted Garden treats visitors to a beautiful and mesmerising evening walk with twinkling fairy lights!
Starting at The Hub, The Enchanted Garden takes you through a series of shimmering gardens, delicately-lit weeping figs, twinkling rainforests, and to a tranquil lake where you can enjoy food truck eats and live music. There is also a special surprise (if you can spot them): Glittering fairies hidden among the trees, dotted throughout your walk.
City Hall Lights
From the 7th to the 24th December 2018

Offering an enchanting narrative with creative flair, The City Hall Lights event has fast become a highlight of the festive season!
Watch a playful Aussie Christmas tale come to life via animation projected onto City Hall every 15 minutes from 7.30pm.
Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols

The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols is a much-loved family event that supports the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Featuring some of Australia’s most celebrated singers and entertainers performing festive songs and traditional carols at the Riverstage.
* Please note: The event can and may run over estimated finishing time. This event often reaches capacity. To avoid disappointment, arrive early to secure a spot.
** Please note: This is an accessible and free event (donations welcomed).

Southbank offers a cheerful ribbon of stalls winding their way through South Bank’s streets this December! Find a trove of unique trinkets and treasures at each and every store!
The Christmas Gift Market is spread across three locations: Stanley Street Plaza, The Arbour and Little Stanley Street, and offers items such as: stationery, jewellery, homewares and more.
Carols by Twilight
From the 14th to the 23rd December 2018

Sit back and relax on a picnic blanket by the gently-lapping Brisbane River, and enjoy sweet melodies of Christmas carol classics, as the sun goes down on the South Bank Parklands.
Singers and performers include: Cigany Weaver, SCAT and the Queensland Show Choir to name just a few.
Please note: If you are over 18 years of age, the area is licensed should you wish to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal.
Christmas Fireworks
From the 20th to the 23rd December 2018
8.00pm – 8.15pm

In the lead up to Christmas, South Bank Parklands becomes an energetic, celebratory hub, with shimmering fireworks whizzing, dancing and bursting above.
Head to the Clem Jones Promenade for the crème de la crème of views, though other popular viewing locations include Streets Beach, River Quay and the Cultural Forecourt.
* Please note that unlike firework displays throughout the year, these fireworks are best viewed from South Bank. To ensure safe crowd flow, chairs and other types of portable seating are not permitted on the Clem Jones Promenade.
