One foot in front of the other

Breathtaking ocean views, bountiful bushland and beautiful wildlife. The North Gorge Walk is a must-do on your visit to North Stradbroke Island. The 1.2 kilometre boardwalk follows the headland of Point Lookout offering views which are simply breathtaking. The clear waters make it easy to spot for marine life including turtles, dolphins, manta rays and even sometimes sharks. It is also the best vantage point on the island to see the migrating humpback whales pass between June and November.

Worry less…paddle more

Join a kayak tour to Peel Island and see the shipwreck of the Platypus, which sank in 1930. Keep an eye out for dugongs, turtles and dolphins as you paddle. On calm days head down to Flinders Beach and hire a stand-up paddleboard to hit the waves. With beautiful beaches and natural tea tree lakes, this adventure is one to tick off your Brisbane bucket list.

Gone fishing…catch you later

Beach fishing along Home Beach and Main Beach is fantastic. If you venture a little further down the beach it will feel like you have the whole island to yourself. Charters also run from the island if you want to make a day of it. If you are an amateur angler, share a spot on the Amity or Dunwich jetties and get some tips from a local.
