Gumnut Awards

The Gumnut Awards Program is an environmental initiative by the Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA) which provides a progressive rating scheme for holiday and tourist park members, manufacturers and dealers of caravans, recreational vehicles and accessories.

Brisbane Holiday Village has acheived a Silver Rating in 2008 which symbolises the developement of an integrated Environmental Management Plan (EMP). In September 2012 we have applied for a Gold Gumnut Award, the highest environmental achievement under the Gumnut Award scheme, and our application is currently in the review process.

To achieve recoginition for a Gold Gumnut Award we had to report and prove continued commitment on all environmental initiatives set out in our Silver Gumnut Award application, across the following ten areas of sustainablity: 

• Landscape
• Water conservation & pollution prevention
• Energy reduction
• Biodiversity conservation
• Air and noise pollution
• Solid waste
• Responsible business practices
• Sustainable work practice
• Local community
• Safety and Emergency Response Planning

In addition, we had to present 30 additional environmental improvements, in those same categories, to undertake in the Village in the next 5 years.

The program aims to protect and reflect the uniqueness of the Australian environment and culture. Participation in this program benefits not just Brisbane Holiday Village but it benefits everyone involved - park visitors, holidaymakers, customers, residents, staff, the community and the environment of course.
