We are excited to announce that we have entered into the QLD Tourism Awards this year!
Here at BHV we love receiving feedback from guests! Why? Because you, our guests, know best what would make your holiday in our Village even more enjoyable and comfortable. Therefore, we always listen carefully to what is written on our guest feedback forms and on review sites such as TripAdvisor and Google Places, and if reasonable, add your suggestions to our ‘to-do’ list.
Our latest project is again a direct result of guest feedback and we are thrilled to announce that by Summer 2013 we will be able to open our brand new Pool Toilet, Rinse Shower and luxury Cabanas to our valued guests!
We are very excited just thinking about the joy this will bring to our guests! As the QLD sun can sometimes get dangerously hot, we are also happy to be able to provide a sun-safe lounge option for those enjoying the water on a summer’s day.
So when you’re staying with us next, please ensure you fill out our guest feedback form as the more suggestions we receive, the better we can optimise our services and facilities to suit your needs!
Check out our Facebook page for all the complete photo album of the construction.
As a thank you for looking after their cast and crew so well at our Village, the Brisbane Holiday Village team were invited to attend the Media Preview of the amazing Cavalia show in Brisbane.
The reduced, 60 minute spectacle featured the main highlights of the full show which is a 2 hour sensation of the senses as skilful acrobats, dancers and riders demonstrate the toughest tricks on and off horseback while guided by a live orchestra and vocals as the atmosphere is intensified by faint smells of sand and horse as well as live rain (!) to create the illusion of being in a mystical wonderland.
We had a great time and when asked for their opinion of the show our staff simply said: ‘Funny, beautiful, acrobatic, full of action - in one word SPECTACULAR!’
From February through to April 2013 we have some special guests staying at the Village: the cast of international phenomenon ‘Cavalia’.
Over 2 weeks of the Christmas holidays in 2012/2013, BHV hosted an array of free Kids Christmas activities over 4 days. The days consisted of activities such as Sand Art, Pasta necklace painting and designing, Hands and Feet Reindeer, Snowflake ornaments and Party Hat making.
The kids had an absolute ball, all leaving with an artistic piece to show their parents and take home.
On the 10th December 2012, Lord Mayor of Brisbane City, Graham Quirk awarded BHV with a 10 Years of Membership plaque for Brisbane Marketing.

On the 20th November 2012, BHV was officially awarded the prestigious Gold Gumnut Award, making it the first and only Holiday Park outside of NSW to achieve this.
Theo Whitmont, President of Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA) of NSW said, "The Gumnut Awards, the CCIA’s eco rating program, is an important initiative that recognises and supports commitment to responsible tourism practices. To achieve a Gold Gumnut Award, Brisbane Holiday Village progressed through Bronze and Silver Gumnut Awards and completed formal training to implement a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan."
Ken and Geoff Illich (CEO and General Manager) were honoured to receive the award, with Ken saying “It is important to both Geoff and I that we offer an eco- friendly environment to all of our visitors. Having a Gold Gumnut Award means that we are making every effort to preserve our park and it’s surrounds for future generations. The Gumnut Awards have assisted us in reducing our water and electricity costs and have been beneficial when dealing with the council as it is such a highly credited and well recognised program. The Gumnut Awards are a practical set of guidelines which we have adopted and will continue to build upon as our park goes from strength to strength”.
In order to gain Gold, BHV must have had significant progress and monitored outcomes from an Environmental Management Plan, as well as the development of a further 30 criteria to improve practices associated with preserving the environment.
We are very proud of our achievements, and look forward to maintaining an eco-friendly Village.

We are proud to announce that BHV has once again been nominated in the Top 10 QLD Holiday Parks for Holidays with Kids. Holidays with Kids Magazine is the largest circulating travel magazine in Australia and New Zealand, and it is a great honour to receive this!
The Top 10 was announced publicly in the September 2012 edition of the popular magazine, and also available on their website. BHV is extremely proud to have received this recognition as it is a “people’s choice” award and the approval of guests is the most rewarding acknowledgment a business can receive.
On 17 July 2012, celebrity chef Matt Moran visited BHV as part of the national T-QUAL Tick tour for accredited tourism businesses.
Due to tight schedules and media commitments his visit was short and sweet but he luckily did have time to show us all how you cook the perfect steak on the BBQ! Yum! We gave him a 10!
Matt and his entourage also received an exclusive tour of the park, and even got the drive one of our buggies, followed by a delicious dinner at Lagoona Resort Restaurant with some of our staff.
A bit Twitter-fan, Matt tweeted some great lines about BHV such as “My cabin is better than most 5 star hotels!” and “This place, the kids would go wild, would be amazing family holiday!”.

In November 2011 the annual State Conference of the Caravan Parks Association of Queensland, a key body in the Caravan Park industry, was held at Brisbane Holiday Village.
Caravan Park owners and managers from over 60 QLD Parks attended the conference as well as additional well-known personas in the industry. The full 2-day program consisted of a challenging (and funny...) Parkies Olympics, guided tour of BHV, wine tasting and a delicious Seafood BBQ on the first day, with speaker presentations and the 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM), followed by the official conference dinner on the last day.
To accommodate the large number of conference attendees, a temporary structural marquee was erected on the Village’s large, grassed tent site area.

In the last week of August 2011, holiday park chain Family Parks of Australia celebrated their 21st birthday at their annual member’s conference at Brisbane Holiday Village. Approximately 100 park owners and managers attended the conference and the jam-packed two day program consisted of informational seminars, creative member challenges, awards dinners and lots of other fun activities.
Guest speakers included John O’Brien, founder and CEO of PoolWerx, one of the fastest growing franchises in Australia and Fabienne Wintle, managing director of Untangle My Web, a leading online marketing and web strategy consultancy in the tourism industry.
The Family Parks Conference was the first conference of its size held at Brisbane Holiday Village and it was a great success. A temporary 40x20 meter structural marquee had been erected on part of the grassed tent site area for the 70 people attending the conference and quality catering was supplied by our onsite restaurant Sunset Lagoon Cafe.
In November 2011 Brisbane Holiday Village will be hosting its second conference for Caravan Parks Association of Australia which is envisaged to be of a much larger scale.

Some of the photo's of the shoot back in October 2010 are below. The What's up Downunder team stayed at the Village for 2 days, filming everything from the cabins to the pools and the restaurant whilst enjoying 5-star treatment by our staff.
On Wednesday 9 February, Brisbane Holiday Village welcomed Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor and the CEO of Caravanning Queensland, Ron Chapman, to our very own Sunset Lagoon Cafe for the official launch of Caravanning QLD's $400,000 tourism initiative. Joined by news crews from all major TV Networks, the initiative is an effort to bring back tourism to Queensland after the recent natural disasters have made headlines all over the world and have changed people's perception of the Sunshine State's condition.
Mr Chapman said the aim of this campaign is to dispel the idea that 'Queensland is closed for business'. "Reports we're getting is that there are massive numbers of people cancelling their bookings and people who have holidayed in QLD for years are not rebooking for next year". Like Brisbane Holiday Village, hundreds of tourism operators across the state have been experiencing large numbers of cancellations since the beginning of the year and are keen to get the message out there that 'Queensland is OPEN FOR BUSINESS'.
In an effort to stimulate road travellers to return to QLD, Caravanning QLD, in partnership with Jayco Caravans, is giving away a Brand New Caravan worth $50,000 to one lucky tourist who stays at an associated Caravanning QLD member park between 1 March 2011 and 31 January 2012. So plan that trip to QLD and fill out an entry form at a member park to go in to draw! The more parks you stay in, the more chances you'll have to WIN!
AAA Tourism undertook its annual Star Rating inspection of Brisbane Holiday Village recently (9 April 2010) and awarded the Village a 5-Star rating for its new Vogue Cabins, under the Australian Tourist/Caravan Park STAR Rating Scheme.
With this recognition, Brisbane Holiday Village is now one of only two Tourist/Holiday Parks in Australia to have achieved the highest rating for cabin accommodation.
The Village’s additional three holiday cabin styles, branded the Cosmo Cabin, Alfresco Cabin and Metro Cabin, along with the two-bedroom Semi Permanent Cabins also rated high in the Scheme. The Cosmo Cabin scored an impressive 4.5 Star, where the Alfresco, Metro and Semi Permanent Cabins all scored a 4 Star rating.
An overall 4.5 Star rating was awarded to the property, confirming Brisbane Holiday Village’s well-appointed accommodation throughout and its exceptional standard of facilities and guest services.
Ken Illich, Development Manager of Brisbane Holiday Village, said, “Year in and year out we work hard and smart to keep ahead of our competitors and with this recognition we are proving to be doing just that. The accommodation and facilities we have on offer at Brisbane Holiday Village are more of what you would expect from a resort than a tourist park.”
In addition to the accommodation and property ratings, Brisbane Holiday Village received an Eco-Friendly Star, rewarding its commitment and care for the environment. Brisbane Holiday Village adopts state-of-the-art water and energy saving systems and is proud to be considered an Eco-Friendly Australian caravan park.
